The Village Historique Acadien on a Visit

A member of the interpretation staff, in period dress, is committed to visit your classes with her trunk full of various items from our Acadian ancestors. A wonderful opportunity for young folk to discover the life and culture of Acadians in the 19th century.

Wool: "The Magic Spinning Wheel"
Nursery school, grades 1 and 2
With stories and songs, children find out about the processing of wool.
Time   30 minutes
Rates   First two presentations: $50 each
Additional presentations: $40 each

The Farm: "Ti-Jules à Arthur's Daughter"
Grades 3 and 4
With her knowledge of farm life, our "farmer's wife" will introduce the children to the agricultural products of the 19th century and their use.
Time   45 minutes

I learn how to make a hooked carpet - New
Grades 3 and 4
Children will learn the history of the hooked rug and how to make them.
Time   45 minutes

Dress: "Grandmother's Fashions"
Grades 5 and 6
Ti-Jules' daughter explains to the pupils the various articles of clothing comprising the traditional costume.

Here is a fine opportunity for your class to participate actively in the life of Acadia in th 19th century. From nursery school to grade 4, workshops and a visit on the farm will open a window for you on the daily life of our ancestors.

         Farm Visit
With the help of activities, objects and explanations, pupils will get a general picture of the life of children in the old days.
Dates   June
Cost   $ 5 per child (including a visit of the site)
Duration   1 ½ hour

A monitor/teacher admitted free of charge for every group of 10 pupils.
